After last year’s successful exhibition titled "Africa | Land of Icons" at Christine X Art Gallery, I am returning with a new body of work focused on the Camargue horses of southern France. Horses of Salt and Wind brings together a series of images of horses taken in this unique region, showing the white horses in their natural surroundings of shallow water, open sky and coastal wind.
These are not studio images or carefully arranged scenes. The horses were photographed in their natural habitat, moving through their natural environment. The idea behind the series is simple: show them as they are, shaped by the elements around them. Salt in the air, wind in their manes, and sometimes water underfoot.
A Straightforward Approach to Wildlife Photography
My work has consistently centered on capturing images of animals with a sense of respect and subtlety. This series continues in that vein. The aim is to present a straightforward view of these horses, avoiding any unnecessary embellishments. What is depicted reflects my own observations: instances of energy, tranquility, interaction, and movement, all set against the natural light and changing conditions of the Camargue.
This exhibition is not just about horses, but also about the place they live and how that place shapes them.
Photography Exhibition in MALTA Back at Christine X
This fine art photography exhibition in Malta takes place at Christine X Art Gallery in Sliema, a space that has supported my work before and continues to welcome wildlife photography into the local art scene. The opening night is set for Thursday 18 September at 7.30 pm. I will be present and available at the venue to speak with anyone who wants to learn more about the process behind the images.
