This male lion rests on a granite kopje in the Namiri Plains of the Serengeti. From thks male lion's elevated position, he overlooks the grasslands below, calm and alert. His thick mane is worn and rugged, and the scars on his face show the life he has lived, hard fought and earned.
There is nothing dramatic in his pose, yet he holds a quiet authority that is hard to ignore. Up here, he is not just another lion. He feels like royalty, established and experienced, completely at home in his environment. A natural ruler on his throne of stone.
