#011 - Wanderer | Fine art giraffe print

Embellishing the savannah with its unique and beautiful pattern, the unmistakable but endangered Masai giraffe moves gracefully across the Serengeti plains. Its calm presence and striking form have made it a favourite subject in African wildlife photography and a timeless symbol of the wild.
 
On a visit to the Serengeti in Tanzania, I stayed with this giraffe for quite some time. He was in a good area for the shot I had in mind, and the skies were filled with beautiful clouds. In fine art wildlife photography, patience is everything, and sometimes you meet an animal that feels completely at ease with your presence. This was one of those moments.
 
He stayed relatively close, calm and curious, while I waited for him to step into the open from behind a tree. When he finally did, the light, the clouds, and the sense of stillness all came together. It became one of those quiet, balanced scenes that remind me why I create black and white animal prints.
