108 - Backlash | Horse Print
Camargue, France - 2025
Two Camargue stallions lock into a burst of movement in the marshes. One lifts into a kick, hooves flying, while the other surges forward, refusing to back down. Their manes are lifted by the wind, their muscles tense and ready. You can almost hear the thud of hooves on dry earth. The moment feels both sudden and ancient, a familiar standoff between two wild animals figuring out where they stand.
The black and white image is stripped back, almost like a pencil sketch. With the bright sky and pale ground, the stallions seem to rise out of the landscape. There is no color, no distraction, just the raw energy of the scene. Every line in their bodies tells part of the story, from the stretch in the legs to the focus in their eyes.
These horses live in the wetlands of the Camargue, a place where nature still moves on its own terms.
This print formed part of the fine art photography exhibition 'Horses of Salt and Wind' held in Malta in 2025.
