#057 - Catwalk
Kalahari, South Africa - 2022
While spending the morning watching meerkats with a few clients in Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park, I got a tip about a beautiful leopard seen drinking from a nearby waterhole. We didn’t hesitate. I had a hunch it might head toward the ridge across the road, a place leopards often retreat to during the heat of the day. The area is scattered with caves and crevices, offering perfect shelter.
I always try to anticipate what might happen next. Gaining just a few extra seconds can make all the difference in capturing that extra special shot.
And just as I had hoped, the leopard crossed the road in front of us and climbed the ridge, pausing briefly to survey its surroundings. For a few fleeting seconds it paraded on top, perfectly framed against the Kalahari sky, before slipping out of view. A moment shaped by experience, timing and a little bit of luck.
