#052 - Titanic
Amboseli, Kenya - 2023
Taking this extreme close-up shot of Craig, the renowned super tusker, was a fantastic experience. Being so close to oone of the most impressive animals on earth is just mind-blowing. For this intimate piece, I employed a wide-angle lens. The lens’s unique perspective brought out the intricate textures of his rugged skin, the deep lines etched across his face, and the majestic curvature of his enormous tusks. This close-up view transformed the subtle details into a dramatic focal point, drawing attention to the grandeur and age of this iconic elephant.
In this shot, the wide-angle lens not only accentuated the size of Craig’s features but also created a sense of intimacy and immediacy. By being so close, I was able to immerse the viewer in the sheer magnitude of Craig’s presence. The composition highlighted the powerful textures of his skin and the sweeping curves of his tusks, offering a strikingly detailed and evocative glimpse into the life of this extraordinary creature.
